transearch®
Grounded in NHS data and observations, there is strong evidence of where automated solutions work in transforming primary care. Countless hours can be freed up, enabling NHS employees to work in a more efficient and focused manner, reducing the requirement for overtime whilst enhancing job satisfaction and allowing for improved service management for our Primary Care Contractors and benefits for customers.
Accurate recording, tracking and knowledge of the whereabouts of all health records is essential from an information governance perspective and critical when required to assist in the provision of quality patient care across Wales. Having the knowledge of the location of live patient medical records is vital to ensuring records can be located quickly and efficiently.
NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership commissioned UK Software Limited’s barcoding solution to track and manage patient records across both the central record store and surgeries in Wales. UK Software Limited’s file management solution uses proven, fully scalable, secure TranSearch® technology.
The tracking systems within TranSearch® allow for Primary Care Services teams to identify an up-to-date location for each medical record, its movement history and an audit trail to support immediate access of patient data across GP surgeries, enabling staff to respond to queries received from GP Practices.
"The locator and tracking tool has been hugely beneficial in allowing us to quickly and efficiently locate medical records. As we onboard more practices onto TranSearch® it’s allowing us to modernise and modify our working practices. Using UK Software’s solution has given us insight into how we could potentially use the software for other medical record services and workstreams."
"In terms of the benefits for our customers, the front-facing medical request function element has been trialled with GP practices and feedback has been brilliant. They have advised us that this function is streamlining their in-house processes reducing the time they spend requesting medical records and reducing administrative burdens on surgery staff."
"This in turn is freeing up more time to focus on patients in surgeries across Wales as well as supporting colleagues in other areas of the day-to-day running of a GP Practice. Whilst we have a journey ahead to onboard all GP practices in our PMR service onto TranSearch® the benefits and advantages are being experienced already."
